First announced in 2006, Apple’s massive 2.8 million-square-foot campus is finally coming to life. The large, circular building is located near the company’s existing headquarters in Cupertino, California.

After more than 2 years of construction, the general outline of the structure is now visible, with the completion date set for late 2016, according to 9to5Mac. The company’s 12,000 employees could presumably move into the new office by early 2017.

A video shot by Duncan Sinfield gave a bird’s eye view of the main circular Apple campus, which resembles an enormous UFO, as well as supporting structures, like the underground auditorium and the array of solar panels next to its parking lot.

According to Apple, the new campus will be entirely powered by solar energy.

In the video below, Steve Jobs pitches his idea for a new Apple headquarters to the Cupertino city council in 2006.
