North Korea in the World Cup final?

Someone out in the YouTube universe decided to have a little fun, creating a spoof video of a North Korean news broadcast that reports that the national team has made it to the World Cup final in Brazil.

The video shows aerial shots of Sao Paolo’s Arena Corinthians, and the Fifa FanFest site on Rio’s Copacabana beach, but cuts to footage from a North Korea match played in a rather empty stadium that is surely far from Brazil.

To top it off, the anchor reports that the North Korean team bulldozed its path to the final, shutting out Japan, the USA, and China.

The clip fooled some media outlets, who reported it as genuine.

On YouTube, the video has drawn almost 2 million views.

Of course, this year’s World Cup final features Germany versus Argentina.

North Korea hasn’t qualified for the World Cup since 2010.
