Rain and have wind started in the town of Morehead City, North Carolina, ahead of Hurricane Florence on Sept. 13.

Morehead City is located in Carteret County, North Carolina, along the beach. Storm surge and hurricane warnings are in effect for Morehead City.

As of the afternoon of Sept. 13, Hurricane Florence’s eye was located approximately 110 miles east-southeast of Wilmington, North Carolina, said the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The storm’s speed slowed down to 10 mph, moving northwest, the NHC said in its 2 p.m. update. It’s also 165 miles east of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The NHC said that Florence has 105 mph winds.

Gunman Kills 5, Self in Southern California Rampage

A gunman killed five people, including his wife, before turning the gun on himself as a Kern County sheriff’s deputy closed on Sept. 12, authorities said.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the shootings that took place at a home and a business in Bakersfield, which is some 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

A Selection of Robin Williams’s Personal Items Are up for Auction

Golden Globe awards and Oscar certificates won by Robin Williams are going up for auction in October, along with the late actor’s collection of movie props, watches, toys and art.

A prop dagger that the comedian used on the set of his 1991 movie “Hook,” and a robe with the Gryffindor Crest worn by Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” are also included in the sale at Sotheby’s in New York on Oct. 4.

“We’re incredibly excited about the watch that Robin Williams wore during ‘Dead Poets Society,’” Nina del Rio, Sotheby’s vice chairman, told Reuters Television at a public exhibition ahead of the sale.

Waves Pound Nags Head Pier as Hurricane Florence Nears

Hurricane Florence was still 145 miles off the North Carolina coast on Thursday morning, Sept. 13, but winds from the storm were already kicking up strong waves along the Outer Banks.

This video was shot at the Fish Heads Bar & Grill pier in Nags Head, North Carolina, and shows rough surf ahead of Hurricane Florence’s landfall.
