A man and his child had a terrifiyng surprise in St. Martinville, Louisiana.

On April 9, while boating near their campsite in Lake Fausse Point State Park, Burgos decided to inspect what was caught on a jug fishing “noodle.”

Usually employed to capture catfish, the jug line Burgos checked had caught something much bigger. And much scarier. An alligator.

Burgos can be seen jumping back in fright after realizing that the jaws of an alligator, not a catfish, were less than a foot away from him and his child.

“Holy Cow!” Burgos exclaims, while speeding away from gator.

In Louisiana alone, there are almost 2 million wild alligators, and 300,000 on alligator farms. The state’s Department of Wildlife and Fisheries manages the American alligator as a “commercial and renewable natural resource,” and the industry is valued at over $50 million annually.
