Most people would think of dogs or cats when considering a pet. However, a young girl named Savannah Lindsey, from Texas, has formed a special and unusual bond with her pet rooster, Frog, who has been living with the family since February 2017.

According to the teenager’s mom, Holley Burns, he was named Frog because as a little chick, he seemed to bounce rather than walk.

However, that was not the only strange thing about the bird. He also showed more interest in being around people than other roosters. As Holley tells Babble.com, “He was more interested in humans and what they were doing.”

Soon enough, after coming to live with the family, Frog started showing more interest in one family member in particular, and that was Savannah. She would walk around doing her chores while holding the little chicken. Not long after, a heartwarming friendship between the two ensued. The girl and the rooster have become inseparable and did pretty much everything together.

“She pulls him in a wagon. Wherever she goes, he’s right behind her. He gets up on the bunk beds with her. He’ll sit and watch TV with her,” Holley explains as per The Dodo.

Apparently, Frog became so attached to the girl that he started walking her to her school bus every day and then greeted her each time the bus returned. The mom found this so cute that she filmed this encounter and posted it on social media.

The video shows Frog running as fast as his little chicken feet can make him run to go and greet his owner at the bus stop. After that, the girl picks him up and then walks back down the driveway with him.
According to Holley, the event has become such a commonplace occurrence that even the bus driver got a bit attached to Frog. He always drives carefully around him. “Our bus driver is really good—he knows to watch out for Frog. He makes sure they’re in the clear before they leave,” she told The Dodo.

While Savannah is his favorite human, Frog has also formed a very unusual friendship with a canine. The family brought Casper, a dog, into their home after he had been abandoned in a McDonald’s. At first, the pooch would get scared every time there was a storm, so the helpful little rooster started comforting him. Holley said that now the two are best friends. “Frog will jump on top of Casper, and Casper will lie on top of him, like, ‘OK, what are you doing?’” she shared.

As the little rooster is allowed to spend so much time indoors and is considered a fully fledged member of the family, he even gets to wear special “chicken diapers” to avoid any unwanted accidents.

Frog’s antics clearly have touched the hearts of many. His Facebook page has over 100,000 followers, and the video of him greeting Savannah from the school bus has over 4 million views. He’s a very photogenic and handsome chicken who loves having his picture taken.

The little bird continues to bring joy and help people, as according to Frog’s official Facebook page, he and his favorite human participate in fundraisers and local charity events.
Frog is a rooster outside the norm in many ways. But Holley explains it pretty well, “I don’t think he thinks he’s a rooster.”
