He was at the local car dealership when he heard a single mom’s desperate phone conversation.

The man, who has asked to stay anonymous, gave Connie Cole $2,200 for a new used car.

Cole had been at the dealership discussing her plight as a single mom with three children. She said she’s only able to work part-time but still needs to provide for her family.

The 32-year-old pulls shifts at a sub shop in Black Mountain, North Carolina, but doesn’t make enough to get a new vehicle, which she needed after the one she was driving broke down.

She was telling the dealer at the dealership that she'd likely have to go into debt to get the vehicle, prompting the stranger to give her $2,200. Her dad added $800 and Connie got a used car.

“Connie sounded so desperate since the car she had broke down,” dealership owner Wesley Gurley told ABC. “The guy said he heard the distress in her voice and he wanted to go home and pray about maybe buying her that car.”

“When he disclosed that he was going to pay for the car, she was in disbelief,” Gurley said.

The man wants to remain nameless but said the gesture was prompted by his faith.

“I cried and thanked him at least a thousand times,” Connie said. “He gave me an extra $100 and said the first tank of gas was on him.”
