BMW unveiled its new model of its X6 SUV at the Paris Auto Show on Thursday. Watch as BMW X6 Product Manager Jens Gerloff explains what’s new and what features to look for.

BMW has sold a quarter-million of what it calls its “Sports Activity Vehicle,” a vehicle concept it claims it invented.

“We have integrated a lot of new features and innovation with a lot of power and the best of suspension technology that you can get in a BMW,” Gerloff said.

And if the base suspension package doesn’t excite you, feel free to upgrade to the Dynamic adaptive suspension package, Comfort adaptive suspension package, or Professional adaptive suspension package with Dynamic Damper Control, real axle air suspension, and active roll stabilization.

The new BMW X6 as introduced in Paris comes at a price of 65,650 euros, or about $83,000.

The X6 in the video above is the M-sport version. BMW also offers the “Pure Extravagance” design package, which “gives the X6 even more precision and athletic sport design,” Gerloff said.

While Gerloff notes that the X6 has a “striking new design in the interior and exterior,” it shares many of its features with the X5, notably its hood, headlights, grille, and interior.

The X6 has gotten a tepid reception from reviewers and has been almost universally bashed for its looks. Autoblog has called it “odd and ugly,” and TopGears said it “looks, frankly, terrible.”

Other features of note:

- Choice of 3.0L turbocharged 6-cylinder or TwinPower Turbo 4.4L V8

- 19-inch light-alloy wheels

- Automatic tailgate operation

- Bi-xenon headlights

- Leather trim

- 8-speed Steptronic sport transmission

- Driving Assistant from BMW ConnectedDrive

The 2015 BMW X6 will be produced in the U.S. at its production facility in Spartansburg, South Carolina. Look for it at dealerships in late 2014.
