TAOYUAN, Taiwan—Mr. Yang Min-Sheng, CEO of Min-Sheng General Hospital, invited around 50 of his family members, friends, and employees to watch Shen Yun’s performance on the evening of March 27. This was Mr. and Mrs. Yang’s first encounter with Shen Yun.
“It is absolutely eye-opening! Exceptionally grand and luxurious!” said Mr. Yang, who owns five hospitals in Taiwan and has expanded his career to some provinces in China. He is also a former legislator.
“I originally thought it was a more quiet type of Chinese dance,” Mr. Yang said. “It turned out to be a performance with a grand momentum. The dancing, music, and special effects contrasted one another and are naturally one. It is an outstanding creation and one of its kind.”
He continued, “The majestic momentum, throbbing music, and floating dancing movements all blended into the background animation and became one powerful and exciting energy of life that was unbelievably thrilling!”
Mr. Yang acknowledged that Shen Yun’s stories and the meaning conveyed can have a powerful effect in saving degenerate society: “In this dispirited society, Shen Yun is a flow of aspiring energy that is hard to come by. Anyone who comes here should feel it. It will possibly change people’s attitudes toward their lives.”
Being a surgeon, he agreed that music is one form of medicine, and that different music has different healing powers. “It must be true—splendid music possesses the power of healing,” said Mr. Yang.
Mr. Yang stressed that Shen Yun has a stronger and more effective power than medicine—a supply of unlimited energy of life. “I see unlimited youth, vitality, and energy of life,” he said. “I hope more people can come to enjoy it themselves!”
Sold Out Every Year
Shen Yun’s opening performance in Taoyuan for the past three years has sold out every year, so it was even more important for Mr. Chung Kuo-Yun, who had last seen last year’s performance in Chicago, Ill., not to delay in getting his wife to see Shen Yun in Taoyuan on March 27.
Mr. Chung, who is the chairman of Ivy Health Promotion Association, admired the performance as much as the last time he saw it. “Shen Yun demonstrates the unique kind of divine and charm that no other groups can imitate,” Mr. Chung said.
“The performance combines the skills of a movie production, which includes brightness and novelty. The artists’ movements and the animation on the backdrop in Sand Monk Is Blessed converged so well,“ Mr. Chung said with a smile. ”It must have taken the artists a long time to train. That is why Shen Yun is such a world-class group and has received such fantastic reviews.”
Mr. Chung expressed the pride he holds for his native Chinese culture. “Shen Yun promotes Chinese culture in a very profound way,” he said. “It elaborated the classic Chinese culture through novel techniques. Every movement of the artists relay the message of the divine and charm.”
Mr. Chung said performances on the mainland try to imitate Shen Yun but fail to contain the authentic Chinese culture. “I do not see the kind of charm or the divine quality and the profound meanings like I did in today’s [Shen Yun] performance.”
This was Mrs. Chung’s first time seeing Shen Yun. “Everything is marvelous! I am speechless,” she said. “All I could think was how gorgeous everything was—like I fell into a wonderland. I want to savor this incredible feeling after I go home and remember it for as long as I can!”
