UFO sightings prompted residents in Port Angeles, Washington to call their local law enforcement, only for them to be told that the object was a bright Jupiter, the AP reported last week.
Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said that his department received several calls last Thursday in the early morning that complained about a bright, shiny UFO in the night sky. He said officials reassured the callers that the object was in fact Jupiter.
Jupiter is making its closest approach to Earth in 47 years, which makes its brightness in the night sky that much more prominent.
