Late last week, Twitter offered up more details on the plan for its upcoming native video service, and gave an ETA for its launch some time in the first half of 2015. But now it looks like the service will be coming sooner than expected - possibly as soon as the next few weeks.
According to information from sources obtained by Re/code, Twitter plans to launch their video service in only weeks. Although Twitter reps have failed to comment, the native video service would likely be similar to Vine, which was acquired by Twitter in late 2012.
The thus-unnamed video service will include a number of features, including native video editing, and the ability to shoot and upload video directly from your cell phone’s camera.
The service could also be designed to compete with YouTube - and although earlier reports say there might be a 10 minute time limit on uploaded videos, more recent reports from Re/code say the time limit could be as little as 20 seconds, which would place the service more closely to Vine in terms of competition.
