The Teen Choice Awards saw vampires rule the night Monday with The Twilight Saga taking out 12 surfboard-shaped trophies, while TV show The Vampire Diaries won 7 trophies.

Over 85 million votes were cast online after teenagers selected their favourite celebrities in film, television, music and sport pop culture.

Twilight’s Taylor Lautner, aka werewolf Jacob Black, won two gongs, while co-star Kristen Stewart took home one.

And British actor Robert Pattinson received four surfboards, including one for his non-vampire role in the movie Remember Me.

“It’s great to win something outside of Twilight,” he said.

Sandra Bullock picked up gongs for The Proposal and her role in The Blind Side, for which she has also won the Best Actress Oscar.

In sports, David Beckham picked up the choice male athlete surfboard, and was joined onstage by his three sons, Cruz, Brooklyn and Romeo.
