A former Harry Potter star was ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to his former agent by an Irish court.
Actor Devon Murray, who portrayed student Seamus Finnigan in eight Harry Potter films, was ordered to pay €260,000 ($370,249) to his former agent Neil Brooks.
Brooks was fired after pictures emerged of Murray smoking a cigarette on the London set when he was just 13.
Brooks said he was owed for commission fees from the actor’s work.
Murray’s mom had told the judge that her son had blown most of his fortune on girls, alcohol, and cars.
In reply to a question from the judge about where all the money from Harry Potter residuals in early days had gone, she said he had “gone drinking, taken out girls and bought cars because that is what teenage boys do,” reported the Irish Mirror.
Murray said she could have helped her son manage his money better, but also argued that Brooks didn’t do a good job after the pictures emerged.
Murray made €1.2 million ($1.7 million) over the eight movies.
The actor said he used some of the money to invest in real estate and horses.
After the judgement, he told RTE: “Well obviously we’re all gutted now. Not a whole lot we can do, we have to try and get by whatever way we can now.”
