Tribeca’s CaVaLa Park is renamed Albert Capsouto Park on Thursday Oct 28. Albert’s brother Samuel holds a sign for the park at the renaming. Albert, who passed away in January at the age of 53, was a pioneer in the post-9/11 revitalization of the Tribeca community. He advocated for small businesses and was a longtime member of Community Board 1. The park opened in 2009, and was previously named for its location at the intersection of Canal, Varick, and Laight streets.
