Why mess with the best? To make it better.
Toyota introduced its next-generation Camry Wednesday at the New York International Auto Show, and judging from what they showed, the new Camry will soon be as ubiquitous as the old.
For the past 12 years Toyota’s Camry has been the best-selling car in the U.S. The car has always been reliable and economical but it has also had a reputation for being as exciting as vanilla yogurt.
For 2015, Toyota has amped up the styling to match the substance the car has always offered. From the front end with its aggressive grille and best-in-class LED lowbeams to the sculpted sides and wider track, the new Camry is designed to look like it moving when standing still, and to look fast when it is moving.
Inside Toyota has upped the quality of the materials to give a more comfortable, refined feel, while offering top-flight electronics including a navigation/entertainment screen of up to seven inches, and even a wireless phone charger.
More important to most Camry buyers will be the advanced safety systems, including a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, a lane-departure warning system, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
Toyota is not forgetting that not all Camrys are bought by families. The new XSE version is the sportiest Camry ever, with 18-inch wheels standard and an enhanced suspension system.
For those folks with a greener bent, Toyota is also offering a hybrid version.
