At the 2013 Tony Awards Sunday, June 9, the big winners include Kinky Boots, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Matilda The Musical, Pippin, and Lucky Guy

Kinky Boots, by Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein, got 13 nominations and won six awards, including best musical.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? got five nominations and won three awards, including  best revival of a play and best direction of a play. The production revives the story of a dysfunctional New England couple first told in Edward Albee’s 1962 play.

Matilda The Musical, based on a story by Roald Dahl, got 12 nominations and won three awards, including best book of a musical. 

Pippin got 10 nominations and won four awards, including best direction of a musical. Pippin actresses Patina Miller and Andrea Martin won Tony Awards for their performances.
