Tomnod checked out a portion of the search area for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 that singer Courtney Love published on her Facebook.

Love was using Tomnod to search for clues to what happened to the flight, which vanished over a week and a half ago after leaving Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“I’m no expert but up close this does look like a plane and an oil slick,” she said.

“Prayers go out to the families #MH370 and its like a mile away Pulau Perak, where they ”last“ tracked it 5°39‘08.5”N 98°50’38.0“E but what do I know?”

Tomnod is a map search website which has volunteers log on and pore through satellite images looking for clues. The campaign to search for MH370 is its largest to date, and it just expanded the coverage on its website

Expanding on its announcement of 11 new maps to search in the Indian Ocean, Tomnod said that it has added tens of thousands of square kilometers of satellite imagery in the ocean.

Some of the latest intel indicates that the plane flew over the Indian Ocean after the search was first focused between Malaysia and Vietnam.

The site also said via Facebook that it had an analysis team check out the map highlighted by Love.

“Although it is still an interesting clue, it is looking much more like the other boats operating in the region,” it said.

“Keep up the good work.”
