Tom Cruise has dropped out of the “Man from UNCLE” project to work on “Mission Impossible 5,” it was reported.

Cruise would have starred in the remake of the classic television series before he dropped it, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He was slated to work on the film in the fall of this year before shooting “Mission Impossible 5,” the report said.

George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, and others have all been rumored to be the main star of “UNCLE” in the past.

The film will be directed by Guy Ritchie and will also star Archie Hammer.

Cruise just signed on to “Mission Impossible 5” earlier this month, according to Entertainment Weekly.
