Thousands of supporters of the Thai royalist group Pitak Siam attended an anti-government rally at the Royal Plaza in Bangkok on Saturday, Nov. 24.
The day was punctured by two small incidents of violence which included riot police firing tear gas at protesters. From a large stage, speeches were made to the predominantly peaceful protestors who cheered calls for the removal of the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
Pitak Siam’s leaders say Prime Minister Yingluck is nothing more than a puppet for her brother – former premier Thaksin Shinawatra who lives abroad to avoid criminal charges.
