Reminiscent of something from “Mission: Impossible,” the Autothysis128t hard drive can self-destruct on command of a text message if it is found in the wrong hands. You can encrypt with a password, but for added protection it includes a cellular radio that receives text. You determine the kill command and text it to the drive to commit suicide. You can also tell it to self-destruct when it is disconnected from a computer or when too many wrong password entries are attempted. The device doesn’t explode or anything dramatic like that, but its contents are scrambled. It costs $1,600 for 128GB hard drive.
