Images of a stranded sloth have gone viral —pulling in tens of thousands of likes and shares with the speed somewhat uncharacteristic of the slow-moving mammal.
Initially posted to Facebook by the Transport Commission of Ecuador, the pictures show a small sloth clinging to a barrier post in the middle of a highway. In the images, officials pose with the animal—who doesn’t appear to mind the human attention.
In a later update, the Transport Commission announced that the sloth was released back into the wild after being examined by a veterinarian.
