Actor/producer Leonardo DiCaprio is reportedly working with director Ridley Scott to bring Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” to the big screen. The famous dystopian novel has been adapted in the past for television, but this would mark its first appearance as a feature film. The project is said to still be in the development stages, but has momentum, according to “The Hollywood Reporter.” Stay tuned.
Barbra Streisand to Auction Personal Items for Charity
Barbra Streisand is cleaning out her closets and offering up some prized possessions for a few good causes. An avid collector, the singer/actress will work with Juliens Auctions to sell designer furniture, paintings, collectibles, and film costumes this fall. Streisand tells the Associated Press, ““I’m a collector, so one collects and collects and collects,” she said. “But now I have enough stuff and I want to concentrate on other things, so it’s a good time to clean (the) closets.” The event will be held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel over October 17-18. Proceeds will benefit The Streisand Foundation, which supports a number of causes.
Actors Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer plan to marry, according to People Magazine. The two are currently working side-by-side on the hit HBO series, “True Blood.” No wedding date has been publicly announced.
Victoria Beckham Coming to American Idol
Former Spice Girl Victoria (“Posh”) Beckham will make a guest appearance on the upcoming season of American Idol. The former pop star and wife of soccer player David Beckham has an inside connection to the show, as ‘Idol’ creator Simon Fuller is her manager. The announcement of Beckham’s involvement comes on the heels of Paula Abdul’s farewell to the show. The new season of the Fox hit begins in January.
Eli Manning To Become Highest Paid NFL Player
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has been offered a new, seven-year deal worth $106.9 million—which will make him the highest paid player in the National Football League. Manning, a former Super Bowl MVP seems to only be improving in skill from his rookie days and Giants management clearly has high hopes for his future contribution to the franchise. Teammates and peers have been offering congratulatory messages to the player, as prospects for other NFL stars are considered.
