Madonna Returns to Malawi

Megastar and philanthropist Madonna returned this week to the African country of Malawi, the homeland of two of her adopted children.

The singer and her family are there to oversee the construction of a school her organization Raising Malawi is funding and to launch a new education initiative there.

In a blog on the organization’s website Madonna wrote, “On my first visit to Malawi, I was devastated to meet child after child who had been orphaned by AIDS.

“Having lost my mother at such a young age, I felt a close connection to these children. Their stories had touched my own. ... So it is with tremendous joy that I return to Malawi to lay the first brick in the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.

“By educating girls we will rebuild this community and raise this nation.”

Nicollette Sheridan Files Suit

Actress Nicollette Sheridan has sued the creators of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” for a whopping $20 million.

The former co-star of the popular show claims that she was assaulted by the series’ creator Mark Cherry and fired when she tried to report the incident to her employer.

Sheridan claims that Cherry hit her in the head and face while the two were discussing the script in 2008. Her character was later killed off the show, an action the star claims Cherry orchestrated against her in retaliation.

ABC issued an early statement on Monday saying, “While we have yet to see the actual complaint, we investigated similar claims made by Ms. Sheridan last year and found them to be without merit.”

Sheridan alleges that the network did nothing in response to her complaints of abuse.

Liam Neeson To Give Rare Interview

Actor Liam Neeson will sit down for an interview on cable network Bravo on Wednesday night to promote his upcoming film, Clash of the Titans.

He will appear on the interactive show “Watch What Happens Live,” in which host Andy Cohen fields questions from the public via Facebook and Twitter.

Neeson has rarely opened up since the tragic death of his wife, Natasha Richardson, last March.
