Tom DeLay to Cut a Rug

Former Congressman Tom DeLay has signed on to compete on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” this Fall. DeLay, a Republican, was first elected to the House in 1985 and later served as Majority Leader, until legal problems forced him to step down from his seat. The politician said this week on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” “Conservatives can have fun, too. Conservatives can open their collar and put on their dancing shoes. ... I’m in it to win it.” “Dancing With the Stars” premieres on September 21.

Celine Dion Expecting

Singer Celine Dion and her husband, Rene Angelil, are expecting a baby. The singer is reportedly due in May, according to “The Journal de Montreal.” This will be the second child for the couple who have an eight-year-old son, Rene Charles. In various interviews in recent years, the singer has discussed her struggles with fertility and her wish to have more children.

Redford to Direct Lincoln Story

Robert Redford will direct “The Conspirator,” about the Lincoln assassination, “The Hollywood Reporter” reports. The historical drama centers on the involvement of Mary Surrat who was convicted of conspiring with John Wilkes Booth in the murder, and takes place just after the President’s death. The film is set to shoot in the fall.

Kiss Available at Walmart

Legendary rock band, Kiss, is releasing its next album through retail giant Walmart, exclusively. “Sonic Boom” will offer three discs of new and old material, along with video content for only $12. This marketing scheme has recently been used by similar groups such as Journey and Foreigner, as the recording industry continues to struggle with sales. Kiss’s latest will be available on October 6.

Britney Spears on Letterman Tonight

Pop star Britney Spears will make her first appearance on CBS’s “Late Show With David Letterman” since 2006. The singer, who is currently on tour, will reportedly read the show’s infamous “Top Ten List.” “The Late Show” airs at 11:35 P.M.
