Candace Payne’s Facebook video of herself laughing in a Kohl’s parking lot while wearing a Chewbacca mask has racked up more than 100 million views in just four days.
“I‘d like to say that I bought this for my son, who would really, really want it,” the 37-year-old mother of two says in the video. “He’ll probably take it from me. However, this is mine. When it’s said and done, at the end of the day, this is mine that I bought and I’m going to keep it for my own.”
Thanks to Payne, the mask sold out by Friday afternoon on Kohls.com, reported Forbes.
To thank Payne for her big part in helping spur sales, a company representative visited her at her home in Grand Prairie, Texas, bearing gifts.
“We don’t want you to stress about having to share your Chewbacca mask so we confiscated masks for everybody,” the representative said, playing on words Payne used in her video.
Besides three Chewbacca masks, Payne was given $2,500 in Kohl’s gift cards, other Star Wars toys, and 10,000 rewards points.
