Texas Weather-Predicting Armadillo ‘Bee Cave Bob’

Every February 2, all eyes turn to a small Pennsylvania borough in the northeast of the US for weather guidance from a furry rodent. Groundhog day.

But the south has rustled up a contender: an armadillo named Bee Cave Bob, Fox7 reports.

If the groundhog–named Punxsutawney Phil–sees its shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. If it doesn’t, warmer weather is soon to arrive.

If Bob the armadillo goes back in his hole, it’s more cold weather. If he goes out for a romp, it’s sunny days ahead.

But this West Pole, Texas event has another dimension. Bee Cave Bob allegedly predicts the political climate, too. If he saunters left along a yellow line painted on the ground, we can expect liberal vibes that year. If he goes right, it’s predicted to be a year of conservative sensibilities.

Watch the video to see Bee Cave Bob predict the weather–and the nation’s political climate.
