BOSTON—Roger was actually visiting Boston on vacation when he heard about the local Stop the Steal rally, and decided to show up and do his civic duty.

“We have to do our part, as patriot Americans, because this might be our last chance, we might have come to the point of no return,” he said. “I grew up in the Philippines and we have witnessed how the atrocities of totalitarian regimes destroy the lives of many people. We cannot allow this beautiful country to be destroyed by a socialist regime.”

It’s the same kind of government we see in communist China today, and Americans don’t want that in the United States, he added.

“There will be no freedom at all,” he said. “We’re here to fight for justice, and to make all the votes counted, because we cannot allow fraud to rule in the United States or there is no freedom.

Thousands of people participated in grassroots rallies in state capitals across the country on Nov. 7, 2020, and again a week later on Nov. 14 across the country with more traveling to Washington to demonstrate.

The organizers of the Stop the Steal March on Washington, which includes advocates from various groups, are counting over 52 rallies, many of which occurred independently of their organizing. They have since called on the public to rally every Saturday until the Electoral College makes the call on Dec. 14.

He worries that there is corruption in this election and possibly even foreign interference, and joined the demonstrations as a way to call for transparency, seeing it as a citizen’s responsibility in defending freedom.

“We can never allow that to happen in the United States, we have to defend freedom because that is the only thing that makes this country special,” he said. “If the United States goes down, who will defend freedom? There is nobody, not eve in Europe.”

“The communist mantra is you have to follow their ideals or you'll be silenced,” he said, adding that we already see this in the United States when media don’t report on both sides or social media censorship occurs. “It’s frustrating and despicable.”

“We need to have an investigation in this election or else half of the American population will have no trust in whoever is the president, so we have to count every vote. We have to remove all votes that are not legal,” he said. “If there is fraud in our election, and the election is the only means to express our right to choose our leader, if we don’t have that there is no democracy, only tyranny. And if there is tyranny there will always be chaos, because people will fight for freedom. That is what Americans are fighting for.”

“This is the best country in the world, and I’ve been to a lot of countries,” he said. “America is the most receptive country in the world and I’ve seen that first hand.”
