A fire at an animal shelter in Beaumont, Texas has resulted in the deaths of 67 dogs.
The Humane Society of Southeast Texas (HSSET) caught fire late March 15. Of the resident dog population, only 11 survived.
According to Beaumont Fire Rescue, firefighters responded when “a nearby resident saw flames coming from the building.” The animals “perished due to smoke conditions” created by the fire.
A dryer in the shelter’s laundry facility was the cause of the fire,
The puppy room was hit the worst.
