Tanauan, a city located in Leyte Province in the Philippines, is likely among the worst-hit during Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
ABS-CBN posted photos and images of the destruction done by the typhoon this week, while an NBC pundit, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, wrote on Twitter: “The town of Tanauan which looks to be ground zero for the typhoon. Worst damage seen by us [at NBC “Nightly News.]”
A crew with ABS said they were able to reach the town, saying that residents there are getting desperate because no relief goods have made it there.
Many of the people there said they have not eaten in four days.
Official have estimated that 1,000 people were killed in the town.
Tanauan is located just south of Tacloban City--another area that was devastated during the typhoon.
