Aussie pride, Muslim stride.

AUSTRALIA—A Muslim youth raised in Sydney notorious Sutherland Shire has won a world boxing title, for his beloved Australia on Wednesday night July 30.

Growing-up not far from the scene of ugly race riots aimed at Australian’s of his background, Dib has shown the great ability sport has to transcend racial divides.

Australia’s 22 year old, Super Featherweight Billy “the Kid” Dib won the vacant IBO title, in a tight affair which Dib dedicated to his family, trainer Johnny Lewis, and mentor “Sugar” Shane Moseley.

Billy “the Kid” has now extended his unbeaten streak to 21 straight without loss. While this fight went the distance, his record shows his ability to swing a heavy glove, with 11 knockouts. Billy’s eccentric style has many comparing him to England’s former world champ, “Prince” Naseem Hamed.

Billy Dib will now look to capture more belts in the super featherweight division to reach his ambition of becoming undisputed World Champion.
