According to various media reports, the recently arrested former Rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight—charged with murder—has been allegedly shot, stabbed, or mistaken for dead at least four times.
Knight, who was arrested by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. early Friday morning after turning himself in for allegedly running over two men, killing one, and injuring the other, has been suspected of murder before—allegedly two times. He has never been convicted.
He was suspected in the deaths of former Rap stars Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls, both of whom died within a year of each other in 1996 and 1997. While both deaths were reportedly related to gang wars, conspiracy theorists say Knight put a hit out on both artists.
With a long rap sheet since 1987 that includes assaults, battery, domestic violence, beat downs, and theft, it’s not surprising that some acts of revenge have been attempted.
In 2005, Knight was allegedly the target of an ordered hit by a cocaine trafficker. The shaky shooting, which occurred at a party hosted by Kanye West, wounded Knight in the leg.
In January 2014, rumors circulated from Twitter that Knight was dead. Turned out, actor James Avery, famous for his role as the father in “The Fresh Prince of Belair,” had in fact died. Arguably, Knight does bare some resemblance to Avery, and several tweets posted “RIP James Avery” and mistakenly included a picture of Knight.
In August 2014, Knight was reportedly left for dead twice after being shot between two and six times, then stabbed at the hospital where he was being treated for the bullet wounds.
At a pre-Video Music Awards party held in a nightclub and hosted by singing artist Chris Brown, Knight was allegedly shot two or six times, according to various reports, and sent to intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. He reportedly was shot in the stomach and arm. Other media reports said he was shot six times in the stomach.
Later reports stated that Knight had been stabbed while in the hospital and died of his wounds. A masked man allegedly stabbed the Rap mogul to death as he lay in his hospital bed suffering from the gunshot wounds, but it wasn’t true.
