Someone take the classified down for the Padres’ closing pitching job. The position has been filled. Huston Street was traded by the Colorado Rockies to the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. The Padres received cash considerations from the Rockies as well as a player to be named later.

Street fills the vacancy left by Heath Bell, who signed with the Marlins on Monday.

“Huston is coming off three straight 20-save seasons in this division. He is excited to be a Padre and we are glad to have solidified this position,” said Padres Executive Vice President and general manager Josh Byrnes in the press release.

Street started his career in Oakland in 2005, earning AL Rookie of the Year awards. He was traded to Colorado in 2009 where he pitched well but struggled during the postseason. His Game 3 and Game 4 NLDS losses to the Phillies and a 13.50 ERA were a large part of the Rockies demise that season.
