Canada Post has unveiled the images of five stamps that will be issued on April 5 to commemorate the sinking of RMS Titanic 100 years ago. The stamps were designed by Haligonians Dennis Page and Oliver Hill, which is fitting given that Halifax played a central role in the recovery efforts after the “unsinkable” luxury liner struck an iceberg.
“This is really our way of paying tribute to the Canadians involved,” said Mary Traversy, Canada Post’s senior VP of mail. “With these stamps, we hope to preserve the legacy of the Canadians whose lives were deeply touched when Titanic sank off our coast.”
