SpongeBob SquarePants is not being canceled, but there’s a rumor going around saying the popular Nickelodeon show is going off air January 28, 2014.

“On January 28, 2014 Nickelodeon is canceling SpongeBob SquarePants. It is the only show still playing from the 90s ... #SaveSpongebob,” the online rumor claims.

However, Nickelodeon has since debunked the rumor, saying via Twitter that it’s a hoax.

“Nothing more than a hoax. We’ve got new episodes in 2014 and the movie coming out 2015 :) ,” it reads.

But on Dec. 31, people were still tweeting about the cancellation.

One person wrote: “Spongebob is getting cancelled and there’s no point in my life anymore.”
