A Southwest flight was diverted to Phoenix after leaving Los Angeles due to a phoned-in bomb threat, according to reports.
Officials said the Southwest Airlines flight, which had 143 passengers on board, was monitored by U.S. fighter jets as it was heading to Phoenix on Monday, according to Reuters.
All passengers were taken off the flight without any incident. No injuries were reported.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the captain of Southwest Airlines flight 2675, en route from Los Angeles to Austin, safely landed in Phoenix to look into a possible security threat,” Southwest said in a statement obtained by NBC News.
The Los Angeles Police Department ordered the flight be diverted after a caller made a bomb threat against a flight from Los Angeles to Texas, the news agency reported.
“It was serious enough that we diverted aircraft from their original flight plan,” Michael Kucharek, a spokesman for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), told Reuters.
AzFamily.com reported that no explosives were found on the plane. Passengers were also interviewed and luggage was inspected.
Officials told the website they are still investigating the bomb threat.
