While there is no shortage of tablets with 7 and 10 inch screens, few manufacturers have risked crossing the 12 inch barrier. With Samsung making Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 , Microsoft betting on the Surface Pro 3, and rumors of a 12.9 inch “iPad Pro”, we’re looking at a rising trend for bigger and more powerful slates.

Sony has withdrawn from the PC market, and despite the huge losses reported for the last quarter, it is reportedly working on a large screen tablet for the high end segment. Details are scarce, but Digitimes cited sources from the supply chains that Pegatron Technology is going to be manufacturing the device, with a possible release in the first half of 2015.

The rumors hint at a screen size of 12.9 inch and a resolution of 3840 by 2400 a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
and an 8 megapixel camera, all in a slim package just 8.6mm thick. Some sources say the device will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed and that it will cost around $1000.
