Sons of Anarchy season 7 is set to premiere in September 2014 and updates about the cast and storyline have been coming out.

The latest is that Niko Nicotera (Ratboy Skogstram) and David Labrava (Happy) were promoted to series regulars on the FX show, reported Deadline.

Kurt Sutter, the creator of the show, has been giving consistent updates on the filming and other aspects of the show.

He recently said that episode 1 is almost written while the next several episodes are being worked on.

There have been a number of other cast rumors and updates.

That includes Drea de Matteo (Wendy) being promoted to a series regular, along with confirmation that Jimmy Smits (Nero) and Peter Weller (Charles Barosky) will be back. Kim Dickens (Collette) and CCH Pounder (Tyne Patterson) may be back.

The news comes after Tara died in the finale of season 6, suggesting that Wendy “will play a more hands-on role in the life of son Abel (and maybe Thomas, too?),” reported TVLine.

Other deaths can be expected in the final season, but Sutter told Entertainment Weekly after Clay’s death that he doesn’t kill off characters, at least the main characters, easily.

“It would be difficult if I got rid of characters like Tig and Juice and Chibs, especially with Opie gone. They feel like family to people,” he said. “You have to be very careful not to be arbitrary in terms of who lives and who dies.”

The death of Tara, following Opie’s death, marks a major shift, Sutter said.

“I knew, ultimately, where I wanted to take Jax in [the] final season… I wanted to remove his ‘True North,’ because I feel like there needs to be this major psychic and emotional shift that has to happen,” he said. “What direction it will push him in we will see next season. But what happens to a guy like that now that he’s lost both of the people he loves the most, who were able to be his moral compass, with Opie and now Tara. It really is Jax completely untethered and on his own in the final season.”

In addition, T.O. Cross and the Grim Bastards are slated to make an appearance in the upcoming season. And there’s been a rumor, started by Sutter himself, that Aaron Paul could appear in season 7 as Jax’s long lost brother.

Finally, Larry King recently interviewed Sutter, and the interview will air on April 14.

The Ora TV show should include some new information about season 7.
