SNL 40th Anniversary After-Party Featuring Prince Is a Must-Watch

Updated:

Last year, Jimmy Fallon recapped Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary on his eponymous late night show, sharing the happenings of reuniting with SNL alums that included Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy. Fallon also talked about the afterparty at the Plaza Hotel that included a jam session featuring iconic singer Prince.

Thanks to Tim Kazurinsky, there is now footage of Prince jamming out.

In February 2015, Fallon recalled the moment he was able to convince Prince to give the crowd an impromptu performance.

“Prince, if you’re here, I dare you to come up on stage. All of a sudden the crowd parts and there is a purple smoke, just floating towards the stage,” said Fallon. “He floats on stage. He looks like Prince and it is Prince. He gets on stage, grabs his guitar and he goes ‘Dearly Inebriated’ and plays ‘Let’s Go Crazy.’—it was nuts—I’m singing back-up with Chris Rock.”

Fallon continued: “I’m still on that high. It was one of the best nights of my whole entire life.”

Watch the performance that had celebrity peers going crazy.
