Siri, the Apple voice service, claims that Sunday, July 27, is the opening of the “Gates of Hades.”
The message was discovered late last year, but it appears to just be a glitch.
Users discovered the message after asking “What is July 27” they ask “What is July 27, 2014.” Siri the responds with: “It’s Sunday, 27 July 2014 (Opening Gates Of Hades).”
The Cult of Mac website noted that the response is caused by a glitch in Siri’s Wolfram Alpha configuration. It stipulates that “Hades” might refer to a New York City nightclub or bar named “Hades” which may have closed July 27.
It’s also been speculated that it’s because the Chinese ghost month starts on the same day. Others have speculated that it has to do with the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, but that seems unlikely.
On YouTube, a fair amount of users uploaded videos of Siri’s response to what will happen on July 27. And quite a few users uploaded screenshots of the odd message.
As previously noted, not everyone will get the “Hades” response. Several Epoch Times staff members tested it out, but only a couple got a response from Siri.
