GWANGJU, South Korea—On the evening of April 11, Dr. Lee Jeong-Jae was glad that he watched Shen Yun Performing Arts. Dr. Lee, Professor Emeritus and former Principal of Gwangju National University of Education, said, “It is the most spectacular and outstanding performance I have seen. It has reached the realm of the divine.”
“I am impressed with all the programs. The special effects from the backdrop were fantastic! I am absolutely thrilled by the overall effects of the live orchestra, the dancing, and the background projection.
“The performance seemed not by men but divine beings. There is a distinctive subject of this performance, which presents the 5,000 years of Chinese culture in a precise and interesting way,” he said.
“The background scenes in An Early Spring were very pleasant. The story in Sand Monk is Blessed is a lot of fun. And the scene of Buddha’s appearance quelling a calamity in Divine Mercy was very touching. The dancing artists are unparalleled. I don’t know how much practise it would take to reach this acme of perfection.”
“The traditional Chinese culture carries the meaning of good being rewarded while evil is punished. The truth, the just, and the upright always win.
“It’s such a pity that Shen Yun only stays for a short time. Otherwise more citizens could get to see it. As a principal, I want to tell the students and the young people that Shen Yun allows people to know what real art is, and watching Shen Yun can purify a person’s body and mind.
“Shen Yun proves to me that mankind can reach a divine level and that gods are with men. The performance is full of divine culture and allows me to submerge in the greatness of the Chinese culture.
“I believe in god and this performance shows the true beauty inside of me. It tells me what art is— art is life,” said the professor.
Shen Yun An ‘Outstanding Performance’
Monk Hyeon Jang watched Shen Yun Performing Arts on April 11 and admired it, saying it was an “outstanding performance that perfectly recreates 5,000 years of Chinese culture.” Monk Hyeon Jang is the curator of Daewon Tibetan Museum and former presiding abbot of Daewon-sa.
Full of smiles after the performance, Monk Hyeon Jang said, “The only words I can say about the performance today are ’stunningly brilliant.' I am very glad that I saw Shen Yun tonight because I adore it!
“The performance is majestic on a large stage. I have never seen this kind of special effects combining the background animation and superb lighting techniques. It’s an outstanding performance.
“It’s so much fun, together with the important stories from the long history, all presented on stage.”
Monk Hyeon Jang was most impressed with Sand Monk is Blessed and When Shaolin Monks Protected the Emperor.
“I am also very fond of the story An Unexpected Encounter that depicted the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. I hope more people can pay attention to traditional Chinese culture and the persecution of Falun Gong,” he said.
“Shen Yun has created an important opportunity to promote Eastern culture to the West and the world,” Monk Hyeon Jang concluded.
