ATLANTA—David Willett, vice president of payroll sales for ADP (Automatic Data Processing, Inc.)—one of the world’s largest providers of business outsourcing solutions, according to its website, and Desi Citia, an assistant at Pfizer financial services, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Fox Theater on Jan. 9.

“I liked it very much,” Mr. Willett said. Ms. Citia said this was her third time attending Shen Yun. “I love it … I try to go every year,” Mrs. Citia said.

Based in New York, Shen Yun presents 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through classical Chinese music and dance. “Every year, Shen Yun unveils an entirely new lineup of dances, songs, and musical scores,” according to Shen Yun’s website.

Ms. Citia is a big fan of Shen Yun. “I love it—I love it,” Ms. Citia said. Mr. Willett said that he is already a Shen Yun fan even though this was his first year attending the performance.

Ms. Citia is from Indonesia and said she loves the ancient Chinese culture. “The dance is really colorful, and elegant, and so graceful,” she said. Ms. Citia said that they would like to come back next year.

“The atmosphere was amazing. The dancers were obviously very, very good. They were in sync and obviously something I would love to see again,” Mr. Willett said.

Looking beyond the dance, Ms. Citia said she was touched by the stories in the performance. “I think what’s great about it is the story. It’s not just the dance. The emcee also tells you the story and what it’s about,” she said.

“Whether set in the past or in contemporary China, every dance embodies traditional Chinese values,” according to Shen Yun’s website. “Ideals of loyalty, filial piety, and veneration for the divine are cherished and celebrated,” the company’s website states.

“I can relate,” Ms. Citia said of the tales from traditional Chinese culture. According to the Shen Yun website, a unique feature of Chinese civilization is that its history has been documented and passed down uninterrupted for 5,000 years, sometimes in vivid detail.
