LOS ANGELES—Shen Yun Performing Arts has grown to three companies with full orchestras to bring a glimpse of China’s divinely inspired heritage into the present for audiences on four continents to enjoy.
At home in the USA, Sergio Gascon, executive director of the USC Business Expansion Network’s Los Angeles Minority Business Enterprise Center, and his wife Lala were among those who counted themselves fortunate to see the saw the Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company perform at The Music Center on Jan. 13.
“It was a wonderful experience. It’s my first time, I really enjoyed it,” said Mr. Gascon, impressed with the choreography of the entire show.
“It was just amazing. I know it’s not easy what they do out there. So I really enjoyed watching it,” he said.
Mr. Gascon overheard someone say the New York-based production was a celebration of Chinese culture and agreed, adding, “Absolutely it is.”
Shen Yun features include a portrayal of beloved Chinese legends, ethnic and folkloric tales, and contemporary stories through classical Chinese dance and music.
Mrs. Gascon, who works with importer and business development managers, was grateful for having seen the Shen Yun performance.
“It’s beautiful, and I think it’s amazing for me,” she said. “Very impressive. I’m glad I’m here.”
“I will tell my friend, ‘don’t miss it. You will be very impressed.’ It’s absolutely beautiful.”
