Shelby Chong is Tommy Chong’s wife.
Shelby, 66, has worked extensively with her husband, including executive producing the 2003 film Best Buds and being associate producer of four Cheech and Chong films.
“Comedian Shelby Chong is known as Tommy Chong’s favorite co-star on the big screen and in live stage performances. Fans remember her as the sexy French Fifi in Things Are Tough All Over (1982), the Princess in Cheech & Chong’s The Corsican Brothers (1984), and the blond body builder that Cheech got choked up over in Nice Dreams (1981),” added IMDB.
Shelby and Tommy, 76, have three children together--Paris, Precious, and Gilbran.
Shelby is also stepmother to Rae Dawn, Robbi, and Marcus Chong.
The couple was married in 1975.
Before that, Tommy was married to Maxine Sneed from 1960 to 1970.
Shelby told Dish Mag a while back that she’s had a great time with her husband and Cheech, as she joined with the reunited Cheech and Chong for the Light Up America Tour.
“It is all a big bunch of fun. Cheech is so sweet. I get along with him great and I think it’s because he always plays the female parts in the skits. We click like crazy! I think they are a lot more tame now than people might think they are,” she said.
“Especially Cheech since he went into another whole world where he plays golf and tries to live a straight life more. We have a straight life too but Cheech really likes living in that world.”
She revealed that she first met Tommy in Vancouver when he and Cheech were performing.
“We first saw each other literally across a crowded room and he fell in love instantly and started pursuing me. For me it was much more gradual. It took me time to realize all of the good things about him. He’s a great listener and very generous,” she said.
“When you meet Tommy for the first time he has this beautiful aura about himself. He wasn’t as funny back then but he loved to take a chance. We’re both rebels who like to live on the edge and that’s the biggest difference between us and Cheech. Cheech doesn’t like the edge at all.”
