The Epoch Times asked San Francisco locals, tenants and home owners, how happy they feel about their housing situation.
Ed Harrington, 63, retired, Castro
“It’s almost unfair, my housing situation is so good. I’ve rented an apartment in the city, the same one, for 31 years under rent control. So, it’s really, really good. I understand how hard it would be if you’re moving into the city now and trying to afford one, but I have a great one because I’ve been here so long.”

“[My main concern] is the cost of living, and I’m actually planning on moving in the next month.”
Christopher Mooney, 32, attorney, Bayview
“Yes [I’m satisfied with my housing situation]. I live in a condo, it’s new, and I got it at a good price.”
Rachel Ferensowicz, 26, actor, Nob Hill
“I’m happy with it. I’m just subletting right now. I think it’s harder to find long-term housing that’s really awesome and affordable, but as far as finding somewhere temporary, it’s really great. And then in the long term it’s more difficult.”
Joel Smith, 34, graphic designer, Portola District
“I think a lot of people think that San Francisco is not affordable, but I think that if you look hard enough you can find something that’s in your price range. Does that make sense? That’s how I feel. I’ve lived in San Francisco for about five years, and I’ve lived in six different neighborhoods during that time. So I’ve got to see Japantown, Richmond, Mission District, Chinatown, and now I live near Candlestick Park. I think that there are things available. To own a home is a different story. It’s pretty expensive. But to rent, you can find things within your price range.”
