SEBRING, Fla.—IndyCar champion Scott Dixon beat the the sports car regulars in the first practice session for the Tudor United Sportscar Championship Mobil 1 Sebring 12 Hours Thursday morning.
Dixon, in the #01 Ganassi-Telcel Riley Ford, lapped Sebring’s 3.74-mile, 17-turn track in 1:52.357 to lead the prototype field, half a second quicker than Alex Brundle in the #42 Oak Racing Morgan-Nissan and a full second faster than Joao Barbosa in the #5 Action Express Coyote-Corvette.

Matteo Malucelli proved that he has recovered from his wreck at Daytona by topping the GT Le Mans field with a lap at 1:59.394 in the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458. Mslucelli was the only driver in the GTLM field to break two minutes in the first session.
Second in GTLM was Tom Milner in the #4 Corvette Racing C7.R, .633 seconds back, followed by Antonio Garcia in the second Corvette a further 0.084 back.
The TUSC cars will be back on track for an afternoon session at 4:05 p.m. and again for night practice from 8–9:30 p.m. TUSC will practice again Friday morning and qualifies Friday afternoon. The 62nd Mobil 1 Sebring 12 Hours starts at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, March 15.
