Not everyone is happy with Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime performance, which featured thinly-veiled political allusions to the Black Panthers, a controversial group with a history of terrorism, and the Black Lives Matter movement.
On the news show Fox and Friends, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani took the opportunity to criticize Beyonce for injecting politics into her the performance.
“I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers, who are the people who protect her, and protect us and keep us alive,” Giuliani said.

The music video for Beyonce’s new single, “Formation,” contained references to the Black Lives Matter movement, which alleges that there’s a wave of police brutality across the country. “Formation” was the song that Beyonce performed at the Super Bowl.
Giuliani took a staunchly pro-police position, arguing that “what we should be doing in the African American community, in all communities, is build up respect for police officers...the vast majority of police officers risk their lives to keep us safe.”
