The Grand Am Rolex 24 at Daytona, the first race of the North American race of the year, always draws healthy crowds, but naturally, the vast majority of sports car fans can’t fly to Florida at the end of January to see the race.
Those not lucky enough to attend in person don’t have to miss a minute of action, as Speed TV, Speed.com, and radio’s Motor Racing Network will cover the entire 24-hour event plus a pre-race and post-race show.
For Speed TV, the 51st Rolex 24 at Daytona will be the first race for its new 2013 Rolex series broadcast crew, with ex-F1 commentator Bob Varsha joining Brian Till for the play-by-play. This duo will be covering all 12 Rolex series races in 2013.
For the 51st Rolex, the pair will be joined by Calvin Fish, Dorsey Schroeder, Tommy Kendall, and Justin Bell as commentators, with Chris Neville, Jamie Howe, Matt Yocum, and Andrew Marriott working the pits for crew and driver interviews and behind-the-scenes details.
Speed TV will open its coverage with a full eight hours on the air, starting at 3 p.m. Saturday Jan. 26 with a 30-minute pre-race show. When Speed TV signs off at 11 p.m., Speed.com will take over with live streaming throughout the night.
Speed TV will crank up its coverage again at 9 a.m. Sunday, and will broadcast the rest of the race right up to the checkered flag at 3:30 p.m., followed by a 30-minute wrap-up.
Motor Racing Network, radio’s voice of all things NASCAR and IndyCar, will stream 25 hours of coverage on both Grand-Am.com and MotorRacingNetwork.com, plus coverage of the first six and final three hours of the race on MRN’s broadcast affiliates.
