New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan was fined $75,000 by the National Football League (NFL) for using profanity toward a fan following the Jets’ home loss to the Patriots on Nov. 13, according the NFL’s website. Ryan was caught when a video surfaced last week featuring an out-of-view fan telling Ryan that Patriot’s coach Bill Belichick is “better than you.” Ryan then profanely told the fan to be quiet.
Ryan apologized for the incident. “I obviously, you know, made a mistake,” Ryan said. “I was full of emotion and just popped off, and obviously I know I represent the National Football League and I know I represent the Jets.”
The fine isn’t the first for Ryan.
In February 2010 the outspoken coach was fined after being caught on camera giving the middle finger to a fan at an MMA event.
