Retired NBA star Shaquille O'Neal played practical jokes on unsuspecting passengers when he went undercover as a Lyft driver in Atlanta.
The clip begins with a woman revealing to O'Neal that her favorite NBA player is newly retired star, Kobe Bryant.
O'Neal unsatisfied with her response, unbuckles his seatbelt and exits the SUV.
“Are you not entertained? Do you not recognize what I’ve done as a Laker?” he asks as he dramatically slams his wig and bucket hat onto the asphalt.
The clip continues with the former Laker wearing a gray curly wig and large frames, picking up a young lady by the name of Saika. The pair are unintentionally color coordinated—Saika’s blue tresses matches the color of O‘Neal’s plaid shirt. O’Neal shares with the 24-year-old that he makes bracelets for a living.
The car ride with O'Neal as a Lyft driver continues with different aliases and disguises.
France native Angela is the next passenger who is greeted by Frenchman, “Pierre” who is dressed with a Parisian flair; Heather is driven around by off-duty police officer “Goose” who sports a long beard and bandana; a Brazilian man is then picked up by an afro-wearing O'Neal who shares he once visited the South American nation for a singing competition.
As the clip goes on, the Hall of Famer dresses in suspenders, glasses and a short-cropped wig to pick up another young woman who states her favorite NBA team is the Atlanta Hawks. Her reveal leads to the basketball analyst’s imitation of a “dead hawk.”
A “Jamaican” O'Neal then encounters a passenger who says to the four-time world champion: “You look like the basketball type.”
“Nah, mon,” refutes O'Neal. “I had hoop dreams but they didn’t work out.”
When asked if he chased his dreams in becoming a professional basketball player, the 44-year-old states, “You know, I used to chase trains when I was little.”
The pair continues to drive around Atlanta when O'Neal challenges the man to a rap freestyle challenge.
As O‘Neal beatboxes, the man raps: “rolling in the Lyft with my rasta/we don’t eat pasta/we washing our cars—” until O’Neal stops him.
“Stop. That’s terrible, mon,” says O'Neal, who is then challenged by the male passenger to share his own rendition of a freestyle rap.
“I’m good, Drake,” says O'Neal, referencing the Canadian rapper.
Towards the end of the clip, several passengers are pleasantly shocked to learn they’ve been driving around with Shaquille O'Neal when he begins to remove layers of his disguise.
