Ronna McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), said that supporters of President Donald Trump will turn out and vote en masse on Nov. 3 to eliminate any advantage that Democratic nominee Joe Biden has with early voting.
“We’ve also built the best ground game in history, with 2.5 million volunteers and 3,000 staff on the ground. And we are contacting the voters right now all weekend for the next few days to make sure they turn out to vote,” McDaniels said on the CBS News program. “The margins are going to be based on that Election Day turnout. Republicans will have a surge that day. We’re going to have that and that’s why we’re going to win,” she said.
Meanwhile, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), one of Trump’s prominent allies in Congress, predicted a large win despite a bevy of late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots being returned in several key states.
“I think the margin is going to be so strong—it’s going to be a no-doubter,” he told Fox News over the weekend. “Remember, Americans understand this. They understand this election. In the end, it’s about freedom. Right?”
He said that Democratic leadership during the pandemic and summer riots has been lacking and will drive voters to support Trump.
“We’ve got Joe Biden talking about the Biden dark winter and locking down our economy. Americans appreciate the freedom we enjoy as American citizens,” Jordan said. “That’s what’s going to drive into the polls and why the president is going to win big.”
Over the past several months, Trump has disparaged mail-in voting and has called on voters to go to the polls in person. Democrats have taken a different approach and are largely banking on mail-in ballots, although several top Democrats such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) have called on voters to not mail in their ballots now as Nov. 3 approaches.
