North Korea on Friday appears to have launched a missile.
South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported on the development---but it did not offer any details.
The report was posted after midnight in South Korea.
Japanese broadcaster NHK also reported on the apparent missile launch, saying the projectile may have landed in Japan’s economic zone.
North Korea has conducted several missile launches and nuclear tests over the past several recent months---considered to be in violation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
On July 4, Pyongyang announced the successful launch of its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Hwasong-14, which traveled 933 kilometers (580 miles) before it fell into the Sea of Japan.
This is a developing story.
